I am Jen Moloney, founder of The Empowered Learner and Principal Tutor.
I am a fully qualified primary teacher and hold a current NESSA teacher registration. With 27 years experience, in Australia’s education system across all mainstream settings, I have a wealth of expertise in teaching English and Mathematics. I’m also currently studying a Master of Speech Pathology.

I am committed to ongoing professional development, and I utilise evidence based approaches and strategies to implement high quality practice to assist each child’s specific needs.
My practice is explicit, systematic, cumulative and structured and embeds multisensory learning.

The Empowered Learner offers one-to-one writing tuition tailored specifically to your child’s individual needs. Delivered in a fun and dynamic way, each session will ignite your child’s love of writing as well as providing an understanding of planning for writing, specific grammar rules and how to apply spelling rules.

Spelling

Each tuition session focuses on phonemic & phonological awareness as well as specific spelling rules to improve your child’s spelling skills.

Mathematics

By using a fun variety of hands-on, visual, auditory and digital activities and games, this approach is a sure way hook your child in and ignite their love of Mathematics!

Assessment

In order to target your child’s specific learning needs, a full Australian Curriculum aligned English assessment is conducted during the first tuition session. Phonemic awareness, phonological awareness, reading fluency, reading comprehension and writing are all assessed during this initial session. Verbal feedback is given to parents regarding their child’s specific learning needs.
